Ealing Schools Music Association Concert

St Barnabas Church, Pitshanger Lane at 7.00 on Wednesday 4th December 2019.

Wednesday 4th December Ealing Schools’ Music Association concert at St. Barnabas Church, Pitshanger Lane

This is a wonderful occasion and an opportunity for your child to sing carols with many other children from local schools. Parents can join in with some carols too! We will also perform a solo song or carol. For this concert school uniform must be worn.

  • This event begins at 7pm and lasts for approximately an hour.
  • There is a charge for this concert of £2 for accompanying adults and £1 for children.

Year 3’s

As the St Barnabas carol concert is such a popular event, there may have to be a limit to the number of children who can participate. We prioritise the older children, as the Y3s will have many opportunities in the future to participate in this event.

However, if you are a Y3 parent and would like your child to sing at this event, please fill in the form below and you will be informed as soon as possible if there is a space for your child.

Lyrics

-1-
Away in a manger
No crib for a bed
The little Lord Jesus
Laid down his sweet head
The stars in the bright sky
Looked down where he lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep in the hay.

-2-
The cattle are lowing
The baby awakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying he makes
I love thee Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay be my side
Until – morning is nigh.

-3-
Be near me Lord Jesus
I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever
And love me I pray
Bless all the dear children
In your tender care
And fit us for heaven
To live with you there.

-4-
Be near me Lord Jesus
I ask thee to stay
Close by me forever
And love me I pray
Bless all the dear children
In your tender care
And fit us for heaven
To live with you there.

At the Son of God who lay before them.

Bringing precious gifts from lands afar so…

Lyrics
Child in a manger born
Lies in a cattle stall.
Safely He’s sleeping, Mary is keeping
Close beside her baby so small.

Angels watch over Him,
Softly their praises sing.
Voices ascending, joy never ending,
Glory be to Jesus the King!

And God…in the heavens above
Looks down…with a heart full of love.

Leaving their flocks behind,
Shepherd have come to find
Jesus the Saviour, Lord of the Ages,
Here within the stable tonight.

And God…in the heavens above
Looks down…with a heart full of love.

Wise men from far and wide
Kneel at the baby’s side.
Gazing in wonder, praising the Son
Who came to earth to lay down His life.

And God…in the heavens above
Looks down…with a heart full of love.

Child in a manger born,
I want to know You more,
Know You are near me, love You more dearly,
Jesus my Lord.

Tonight’s events were planned in heaven,
The greatest story ever penned.
Heaven and earth have come together,
And life has come to Bethlehem.

Lyrics

There’s the strangest feeling in the air tonight,
There’s something going on but I can’t make it out,
I wonder what it’s all about?
Starlight – breaking through the darkness in the dead of night,
Illuminates the path that takes you out of sight,
And all the way to Bethlehem.

Angels – taking care of things that only they can do,
Are waiting in the wings to bring the joyful news,
It’s going to turn the world around.
Strangers – having made arrangements for a night or two,
Have found accommodation in the crowded rooms.
The house is packed in Bethlehem.

Shepherds – minding their own business looking after things,
Are startled by an unexpected happening,
As angel choirs appear to them.
Wise men – taking charts and telescopes and compasses,
Investigate the star that takes them traveling,
Until they come to Bethlehem.

Chorus

Lyrics
Stille Nacht! Heil’ge Nacht!
Alles schläft; einsam wacht
Nur das traute hoch heilige Paar.
Holder Knab’ im lockigen Haar,
Schlafe in himmlischer Ruh!

Silent night, Holy night
All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon virgin Mother and Child,
Holy Infant, so tender and mild.
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Lyrics

Cold is the night and dark the sky
As on the lonely mountainous road
A tiny donkey makes his way
And safely onwards carries his load.
Upon his back, the Virgin Mary,
While good Joseph walks by their side.

Praise the Child, praise the Child,
Praise the Holy Child!
Praise with songs, praise with dance and mirth
Praise the Child, praise the Child,
Praise the Holy Child!
He is King of all heav’n and earth.

And so they come to Bethlehem
Where they might rest until it is morn;
But where they knock there is no room,
So, in a stable, cold and forlorn,
With sleepy oxen round the manger,
Jesus Christ our Saviour is born.

Upon the hills near Bethlehem,
The shepherds’ vigil keep by their fold;
When angel voices sing aloud
That Jesus Christ is born as foretold;
And bid them haste unto the stable
Where the Holy Child may be found.

Praise the Child, praise the Child,
Praise the Holy Child!
Praise with songs, praise with dance and mirth
Praise the Child, praise the Child,
Praise the Holy Child!
He is King of all heav’n and earth.

Kings of the East in bright array
Ride through the night from countries afar.
O’er hill and plain they make their way,
Their journey guided by a bright star;
Then bend their knee before the manger,
Off’ring gifts of spices and gold.

Lyrics

1.
We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we travel afar
Field and fountain, moor and mountain
Following yonder star:

CHORUS

O star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.

2.
Born a king on Bethlehem plain,
Gold I bring to crown him again
King for ever, ceasing never,
Over us all to reign:

CHORUS

3.
Myrrh is mine, it’s bitter perfume
Breathes a life of gathering gloom;
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying
Sealed in the stone-cold tomb

CHORUS

O star of wonder, star of night,
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding,
Guide us to thy perfect light.

4. ALL
Glorious now, behold Him arise,
King and God and sacrifice!
Heaven sings alleluya,
Alleluya the earth replies:
