Here is an update of EYFS and year 1’s enquiry:
Reception and year 1 – What is the impact of teaching decoding strategies to children who are currently not meeting age related attainment?
Nursery – What is the impact of teaching decoding strategies to children who are high attaining?
Action – Each year group to implement a different strategy – whole class but focus on target children. eg, lips the fish, chunky monkey, stretchy snake.
CT’s to use phoneme frames regularly with target children.
– Children’s confidence in their ability to decode.
– PP – lack of access to reading support at home
Impact – Fosters children’s love of learning.
Children being able to decode more successfully.
Children applying strategies across the curriculum.
