Building Learning Power:
Year 4 will be continuing to develop our learning muscles this term. We will be collaborative koalas as we work together to adapt stories into play scripts. We will be questioning queen bees as we challenge our understanding in science.
Lights, camera, action! Could you be the next Shakespeare?
Year Four will be creating their own play scripts this term. Using our class text ‘The Witches’ by Roald Dahl, we will collaborate with our classmates to create astonishing, action-filled adventures. To get a head start, see if you can find the script to your favourite TV show.
During Guided Reading, we will be story summarisers and imaginative illustrators, among other roles, as we understand texts with increasing confidence. We will be asking lots of questions about the front cover even before we open our books.
To develop our spelling, Year Four will be focusing on suffixes and prefixes including ‘un’ and ’mis’ prefixes for verbs. Make sure you are practising these every week ready for our tests on Friday.
Can you convert a fraction into a decimal?
In Year 4, we will be learning how to convert fractions into decimals and vice versa. Money, money, money, must be fun (hey), in a Year Four class! The children will be taught to develop their understanding of decimals in the context of money, money, money.
To extend our knowledge of the Romans, we will be looking at learning Roman Numerals! Can you find out what C + L = ?
Our science lessons will send your heart racing! We will be investigating our pulse rate with exercise.
In addition, if that isn’t food for thought enough, we will also be investigating how we get energy from the food that we eat! We will be learning about the importance of healthy eating and the nutrients in different foods and drinks.
Listen up! We are musicians. Year Four will be creating their own backing track for Pachelbel’s Canon using a Digital Audio Workstation.
Veni, vidi, vici – Conquering the subject of Roman settlements will be our focus in history this term. Have you ever wondered who created some of the roads we use today?
Year 4 will be taking part in ukulele lessons this term with a specialist teacher. We will also make our own backing tracks.
Art & Design Technology
Year Four will be looking at things from different perspectives as they learn about viewpoints. We will also have our Roman-themed art week and the opportunity to design brooches for the Roman army.
Have you ever wondered what goes on in the Gurdwara? Year Four will be learning about Guru Nanak and his teachings. We will discover how Sikhs worship and celebrate.
A mari usque ad mare – the roaming Romans travelled from sea to sea. What impact did they have on the areas they invaded?
Strictly come dancing continues as 4PC take to the dance floor.
Splish, splash, splosh. 4IR have the opportunity to get their toes wet at Gurnell swimming pool.
4EE will be developing their ball skills.
Si vous êtes assis confortablement? Alors, je vais commencer… we will be learning how to tell stories in French, as well as writing instructions.
Money Matters It’s all about the money, money, money. Year Four will be considering the value of money and how to budget and save.
